The Trauma Resource Institute (TRI) is a nonprofit organization based out of Claremont, California. Since the founding of TRI over a decade ago, they have worked to develop two models of wellbeing: the Trauma Resiliency Model and the Community Resiliency Model (CRM).
What To Look For
Prescription opioids carry serious risks of addiction and overdose, especially with extended use. Side effects can occur from opioids even when they are taken as directed by a physician. Common side effects are listed below.
Tolerance
Tolerance to prescription opioids happens over time, and means that more medication is required to relieve the same pain.
Sensitivity
Increased sensitivity to pain, making any previous pain feel amplified and unbearable.
Dependence
Physical dependence creates symptoms of withdrawal in the patient or persons when they do not receive the opioid.
Symptoms
Nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, constipation, confusion, dizziness, sleepiness, depression, itching, sweating, low levels of testosterone.
